Baccarat Rules

As you may be aware the object of Baccarat is to simply choose which hand, either the Dealers or the Bankers will finish the game closer to the value of nine. In this section of the website we shall take a closer look at the Baccarat rules.

The first and most important part of the game is to understand the card values. An Ace is always worth one point, all of the face cards and tens are worth zero, and all remaining cards in the deck are worth their face values, so a 2 is worth two points a 7 is worth seven points and so on.

Should a dealt hand be worth ten or more in value, for example a seven and a seven then you need to removed ten from the value, in this case 7 + 7 - 10 = 4, so four is the total of that hand.

Third Card Baccarat Rules

The game of Baccarat is usually decided by two cards being dealt to each player and simply working out the values of these two cards, however it is worth bearing in mind that there is what is termed the third card Baccarat rules that can and do come into play.

Regarding the Players hand, when he or she is dealt a value of 0 to 5 then a third card will be dealt.

The Baccarat rules regarding a Bankers hand dictates that a third card will be dealt if he has a two card hand valued at 0 to 2. Should the players hand be a 3 to 6 then a third card to the Player's hand determines a draw or a win.

One other Baccarat rule to note is regarding what is termed a “Natural” hand, this is when either the Player or Dealer has been dealt a hand totalling 8 or 9, in this case then no further cards are dealt.

Baccarat Rules Regarding Payouts

The following Baccarat rule regarding payouts is always in play, should you wager on the Banker and that hand wins you will be paid out at odds of even money, less a 5% house commission.

A winning Players hand wager pays out at odds of even money, with no commission payable. A winning tied hand pays outs a various odds, depending on which online casino software you use and again no commission is charged on this winning wager.

Baccarat Rules Regarding Stakes

You are only allowed to play at the stakes listed on the Baccarat table, once again these vary from casino to casino, but as a general rule the minimum wager is usually $1, the maximum bet is variable, so ensure you always know the Baccarat table limits before you sit down to play.

It is also possible to bet on more than one outcome, that is, for example, the ability to place a wager on both the Bankers hand to win and for the game to end in a tie, or for example a bet on the Players hand to win and the game to end in a tie.
