Blackjack Cheating - Marking the Cards
One relatively simple way of cheating at Blackjack is for a players, during the course of several hands to slowly but surely make a small mark on each card, this can be done using various methods and will allow him to see both what the Dealers down facing card is whilst knowing what card or cards are about to be dealt out from the shoe.
A Card marker will often sit at last base at the Blackjack table, that is the final position to make their betting decision before the Dealer plays their hand, this enables him to control the game by either taking cards or standing his hand in the knowledge the Dealer will bust out his or her hand.
Although marking cards is simple to do and achieve it does take a lot of effort to do it without being caught, and casinos will often instruct the Pit Boss to occasionally check each deck for marks or constantly issue new playing cards to keep one step ahead of the Blackjack cheater.
Blackjack Cheating - Swapping a Shoe
One of the most daring ways Blackjack cheaters have robbed vast amounts from a casino is by swapping the shoe containing the playing cards for one that they have pre arranged.
This has to be one of the most brazen ways of cheating in a casino and takes great skill, involves several people and needs to be timed to perfection. They will need to cause a distraction, ensure they are not seen and quickly get the swapped shoe both on the table and the original one out of the casino.
This Blackjack cheating method has been successfully pulled off in various land based casinos across the globe and often a casino to this day does not know they have been cheated, but with the advent of better security and even more cameras switching a shoe is becoming harder and almost impossible to achieve.
