Below you will find a definitive guide to all the most popular terms and sayings that surround a Roulette table, and in no time at all you will have them all fully understood and will be talking like an old Roulette Pro!
Black - This is one of the three colours that each number on the Roulette wheel has been designated, it is also one of the Even Money wagers.
Column Bet - This is one of three possible betting opportunities you can make by placing your chip or chips at the end of the table layout, it pays 2 to 1 if correct and covers 12 different numbers.
Corner Bet - This is an 8 to 1 paying wager that covers four different numbers side by side on the Roulette table layout.
Croupier - This is the person who spins the wheel, and pays out winning bets, and who also removes losing bets from the Roulette table.
Double Zero - This is one of the 38 number wells on an American Roulette table, it pays 35 to 1, if you bet on it and it spins in.
Dozens Bet - This is a 12 number bet that covers either 1 through 12, 13 through 24, or 25 through 36 A winning Dozen bet pays out at odds of 2 to 1.
Even Bet - This is simply a wager that covers all of the even numbers, and this bet has payout odds of 1 to 1.
Green Numbers - This is the name given to either the zero and/or the double zero.
High or Low - This is a wager on 18 numbers, which can either be the low ones (1 to 18) or the high ones (19 through 36) this wager pays Even Money.
House Edge - This is a theoretical amount defined as a percentage that the casino has over the player.
Inside Bet - An Inside Bet is any of the wagers placed on the inside of the betting layout (where all the individual numbers are).
Line Bet - This is a wager on any six adjoining numbers, and it pays 5 to 1.
Neighbours - The Neighbour are the numbers that are immediately to the left and right of the winning number.
Odd - This is simply any odd number on the layout and the Odd bet pays out at odds of Even Money.
Outside Bet - This is any wager placed on the outside area of the Roulette table.
Red - This is one of the three colours allocated to the numbers on the Roulette wheel, it is also an Even Money paying wager.
Single number - This is also known as a straight-up bet, and if successful pays out at odds of 35 to 1.
Six-line Bet - This is a six-number wager that rewards winners with a payout of 5 to 1.
Split Bet - This is simply a wager on any two numbers that are side by side on the Roulette table layout.
Square Bet - A wager on a square of four numbers, this wager pays out at odds of 8 to 1.
Straight Bet - This is also known as a single bet, and if successful pays out at odds of 35 to 1.
Street Bet - This is simply a wager placed on any three numbers in a line. It offers pay out odds of 11 to 1.
Zero - This is the one single zero which is coloured green on the Roulette wheel.
